Working Principle Of Fast Threading
Nov 17, 2025| Core workflow
Molybdenum wire (diameter 0.1-0.2mm) is selected as the electrode wire, which is driven by the guide wheel and the screw barrel and moves at 8-12m/s in a high-speed cycle (the key for "fast wire").
Molybdenum wire and workpiece are respectively connected to two poles of pulse power supply, and a discharge gap of 0.01-0.03mm is maintained between them. Emulsion is injected into the gap as working fluid.
The high-frequency pulse power supply breaks down the emulsion, generates instantaneous high-temperature electric spark (above 10000 ℃), and melts and vaporizes the metal on the workpiece surface.
The flowing emulsion cools the workpiece in time and discharges the metal chips. At the same time, the CNC system drives the workbench to move according to the preset program, and the molybdenum wire "cuts" the required shape along the path.
Key characteristics and principle adaptability
Molybdenum wire recycling: it can be recycled through the unwinding and retracting of the screw barrel, with low cost, but it will be worn, and the tension shall be adjusted regularly to ensure the accuracy.
Emulsion function: insulation (maintain discharge), cooling (prevent deformation of workpiece) and chip removal (avoid impact of chips on processing).
Pulse power supply control: adjust pulse frequency and energy, balance processing efficiency and accuracy, and adapt to metal workpieces of different thicknesses and materials.
