Advantages And Disadvantages Of Pure Water-based Working Fluid

Oct 18, 2024|

Since the pure water-based working fluid has a high conductivity, the medium-speed wire cutting machine has a strong electrolytic effect during the cutting process. Although the surface of the cut workpiece is very uniform, the surface of the workpiece will be darker due to the electrolytic effect. This phenomenon is more obvious during multiple cutting;
1. Since the pure water-based working fluid has no oily components, once it evaporates, the erosion products of the cutting will adhere to the workbench and around the guide wheel, making it difficult to clean. In severe cases, the guide wheel will even be locked. Once the wire is transported, the electrode wire and the guide wheel will produce sliding friction, causing the guide wheel to lose its accuracy and be scrapped;
2. Because the water-based working fluid has a strong alkalinity, long-term use will cause the paint surface of the machine tool to bubble and fade;
3. The dilution ratio of the water-based working fluid must be strictly controlled, otherwise it is very easy to rust the machine tool and the workpiece;
4. The water-based working fluid is highly volatile, and due to the problem of components, it generally emits some odor during the cutting process.
Currently on the market there are special emulsions for wire cutting, solid emulsified soaps, composite working fluids, etc. Choosing a good working fluid plays a significant role in the quality of processing.
