How To Solve The Problem Of Low Precision in Wire Cutting
Oct 23, 2025| The emergence of any problem has a reason. To solve the problem, it is necessary to clarify the reasons for the low accuracy of wire cutting machines, because only by understanding the reasons can we "prescribe the right medicine" to fundamentally solve the problem. Firstly, let's analyze the factors that cause low precision in wire cutting.
The accuracy of wire cutting is mainly composed of factors such as the tension of the guide wheel and molybdenum wire, the loss of molybdenum wire, the clearance of the lead screw, and the correct input of programmed data.
① When the guide wheel cannot swing or jump, or the tension of the molybdenum wire is inappropriate, or the molybdenum wire is worn, it will affect the accuracy;
② The clearance between the screw of the machine tool is too large, and the distance between the support of the upper and lower guide wheels and the workpiece is too far, which can also cause the molybdenum wire to shake and affect the cutting accuracy;
③ When programming, providing an inappropriate offset compensation can also affect the cutting accuracy;
④ The workpiece is too thin, the wire cutting current is too high, and the speed is too fast, which can also lead to inaccurate accuracy;
⑤ The aging of machine tools and inaccurate accuracy can cause a decrease in cutting accuracy, poor pre-treatment of processed materials, and improper human operation, all of which can lead to poor cutting accuracy
Based on the above analysis, we can solve the problem of low machining accuracy from the following aspects:
1. Before processing, perform quenching and heat treatment on the workpiece to avoid the phenomenon of hard processing materials, carburizing, and decarburization;
2. Choose the correct processing parameters, set compensation that is in line with the actual situation, arrange a reasonable cutting path to avoid damaging the stress balance inside the workpiece, pay attention to the clamping of the processed workpiece, and prevent the impact of the workpiece falling off during processing from changing the cutting gap;
3. The main reason for the poor accuracy of wire cutting machines that have been used for many years is the wear of the screw. In this case, it is necessary to readjust the level, adjust the machine's 90 degrees, and adjust the screw clearance. However, if this still does not work, the screw needs to be replaced;
4. Check if there is any shaking, unilateral looseness, or uneven tension in the molybdenum wire;
5. Replace the working fluid that has been used for too long and check if there are any foreign objects embedded in the spray nozzle;
If all the above aspects have been tested and the cutting accuracy of the wire cutting machine tool is still poor, the only option is to contact the manufacturer for after-sales service. Therefore, when purchasing a machine tool, it is important to choose a professional, legitimate, and capable manufacturer. After all, equipment is not like disposable products, and service and after-sales are extremely important.
