Working Principle and Application of EDM Punching Machine
Oct 11, 2024| The EDM perforator is also called an EDM puncher, an EDM small hole machine, or an EDM fine hole discharge machine. Its working principle is to use a thin metal copper tube (called an electrode wire) that moves vertically up and down continuously as an electrode to perform pulsed spark discharge to erode the metal of the workpiece. Unlike EDM wire cutting machines and forming machines, its electric pulse electrode is a hollow copper rod, and the medium passes through the fine hole in the middle of the copper rod hole to cool and remove chips.
The discharge between the electrode and the metal produces high temperature corrosion of the metal to achieve the purpose of perforation. It is used to process fine holes in superhard steel, cemented carbide, copper, aluminum, and any conductive material. It can process small holes as small as 0.015mm, and can also process small holes with tapers. It is widely used in precision mold processing and is generally used as a supporting equipment for EDM wire cutting machines. It is used for EDM wire cutting of wire holes, chemical fiber spinnerets, spinneret holes, filter plates, sieve plate group holes, engine blades, cylinder cooling holes, hydraulic and pneumatic valve body oil and gas holes, etc.
