Introduction to Vertical Machining Center

Oct 15, 2024|

Vertical machining center (VMC in English, full name Vertical Machining Center): It is a highly automated multifunctional CNC machine tool with a tool magazine and automatic tool changing device. Many people in Hong Kong, Taiwan and Guangdong also call it a computer gong.

Product Introduction
After the workpiece is clamped once on the machining center, the digital control system can control the machine tool to automatically select and replace tools according to different processes, automatically change the machine tool spindle speed, feed rate and tool relative to the workpiece movement trajectory and other auxiliary functions, and complete the multi-process processing on several faces of the workpiece in sequence. And there are a variety of tool changing or tool selection functions, which greatly improves production efficiency.
Vertical machining center refers to a machining center where the spindle axis is set vertically to the worktable. It is mainly suitable for processing complex parts such as plates, discs, molds and small shells. The vertical machining center can complete milling, boring, drilling, Tapping and cutting threads and other processes. The vertical machining center is at least three-axis two-linkage, and generally can achieve three-axis three-linkage. Some can perform five-axis and six-axis control. The height of the column of the vertical machining center is limited, and the processing range of box-type workpieces should be reduced, which is a disadvantage of the vertical machining center. However, the vertical machining center is convenient for workpiece clamping and positioning; the tool movement trajectory is easy to observe, and the debugging program is convenient for inspection and measurement, so problems can be discovered in time, and shutdown processing or modification can be carried out; cooling conditions are easy to establish, and the cutting fluid can directly reach the tool and the processing surface; the three coordinate axes are consistent with the Cartesian coordinate system, and the intuitive feeling is consistent with the drawing perspective. The chips are easy to remove and fall to avoid scratching the processed surface. Compared with the corresponding horizontal machining center, it has a simple structure, a small footprint, and a low price.
